Nominees Announced

The Agatha Awards, given out each spring by the Malice Domestic Convention, have announced their nominees for 2006.


The Agathas, named for the genre's best-selling author Agatha Christie, are awarded to the best first novel, best novel, best non-fiction work, and best young adult novel in the mystery genre. The awards will be presented at the Malice Domestic XIX Convention's banquet in May of 2007 in Arlington, Virginia.

The nominees for Best Novel are:

  • The Saddlemaker's Wife by Earlene Fowler
  • Why Casey Had to Die by L. C. Hayden
  • The Virgin of Small Plains by Nancy Pickard
  • All Mortal Flesh by Julia Spencer-Fleming
  • Messenger of Truth by Jacqueline Winspear

The nominees for Best First Novel are:

  • Consigned to Death by Jane Cleland
  • The Chef Who Died Sauteing by Honora Finkelstein and Susan Smily
  • Feint of Art by Hailey Lind
  • Murder on the Rocks by Karen MacInerney
  • The Heat of the Moon by Sandra Parshall
