Nominees Announced

The "Los Angeles Times" has announced the nominees for its 29th annual book prizes, to be awarded on April 28 at a ceremony on the campus of UCLA.


Prizes are awarded in a number of categories, including history, biography, current interest, young adult fiction, poetry, and mystery/thrillers. The 2006 nominees for the mystery/thriller category are:

  • The Night Gardener by George Pelecanos
  • Echo Park by Michael Connelly
  • City of Tiny Lights by Patrick Neate
  • The Zero by Jess Walter
  • The Winter of Frankie Machine by Don Winslow

The mystery/thriller award will be presented by Mary Higgins Clark.
