Macavity Award Nominees Announced

Best Mystery Awards to Be Presented September 27

Nominees for the 2007 Macavity Awards were announced last week. The annual awards are named for the "mystery cat" in T.S. Eliot's "Old Possum's Book for Practical Cats."


They reward mystery writing in a variety of categories. The 2007 nominees for best mystery novel are:

  • Christine Falls by Benjamin Black (John Banville)
  • The Janissary Tree by Jason Goodwin
  • The Dead Hour by Denise Mina
  • The Virgin of Small Plains by Nancy Pickard
  • Piece of My Heart by Peter Robinson
  • All Mortal Flesh by Julia Spencer-Fleming
