The Web site, FirstBook.org recently held a reader's poll that asked readers what book got them interested in reading. Over 100,000 people responded.


The top twenty answers hold some predictable responses and some surprising ones. Of course, the top choice is a mystery series. The results are as follows:

Although I too enjoyed the Nancy Drew mysteries and most of the other books listed, the first book that really transported me was Daphne DuMaurier's Rebecca, which I first read when I was about 10 years old.
